Tummy Tuck Philadelphia & Montgomery County

Many adults, both men and women, are concerned with stubborn fat deposits around the abdomen. These deposits are difficult to eliminate, even with an aggressive exercise program, and those who do succeed are typically left with residual skin and tissue that cannot be resolved short of surgery. Abdominoplasty is the removal of excess skin and fat around the mid-section. With this popular procedure, Dr. Horvath can remove fat deposits and excess skin to give your stomach a shapelier, more sculpted appearance.

The Abdominoplasty Procedure

Abdominoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure, though some patients choose to spend a night in the hospital. Tummy tuck is performed under general anesthesia. To begin the procedure, Dr. Horvath makes an incision from hip-to-hip and then separates the skin from the stomach muscles to create a skin flap. Next, he tightens the muscles, narrowing the waistline and flattening the midsection. Finally, he stretches the skin into place and removes any excess tissue before closing the incision to complete the tummy tuck.

Abdominoplasty usually takes just a few hours to complete. Most patients experience some swelling and bruising for several days after the procedure. Any discomfort can be controlled with medication prescribed by Dr. Horvath. Swelling fades significantly within a week, at which time abdominoplasty patients are able to begin light exercise, which is an important part of the recovery process. Most of our Philadelphia patients are able to return to work and their normal routine two weeks after a tummy tuck.

Who is a Good Abdominoplasty Candidate?

A good candidate for this procedure is someone who is relatively close to their goal body weight, but is having trouble with loose skin around the stomach area. Our tummy tuck surgery can be performed on generally healthy men and women, both young and old. Dr. Horvath will give new patients a pre-surgery exam to see if they are in the right condition for cosmetic surgery.

Will a Tummy Tuck Help Me Lose Weight?

A tummy tuck is not for weight reduction. It’s a procedure designed more for patients who have already lost weight. The surgery is meant to tighten the abdominal area and remove any excess skin or stubborn fat deposits around the lower and upper area of the abdomen. The proper candidates for this procedure are those who are within roughly 10 pounds (or less) of their ideal body weight. Patients who want to shed extra body weight and eliminate fat in the face or upper and lower areas of the body should consider our liposuction procedure.

Tummy Tuck Results

Once healing is complete, Philadelphia tummy tuck patients can expect a flatter, more toned abdomen and a slimmer waist. Dr. Horvath works with each patient to tailor the procedure to their body and needs, locating incisions in places where they will be well concealed by clothing.

Abdominoplasty is particularly popular among women after pregnancy as well as patients who have lost significant amounts of weight. The procedure leaves the entire body looking slimmer and patients typically feel more comfortable and confident. Many of our patients choose to combine abdominoplasty with other plastic surgery procedures for the body, including arm lift and posterior lift, as well as breast lift to rejuvenate the bustline, for the best possible results.
