Ultherapy in Philadelphia & Montgomery County
Ultherapy is an FDA-approved procedure designed to lift and tighten loose skin around the browline, neck and underneath the chin. A less invasive alternative to facelift and neck lift, Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to stimulate and change the foundational layers of the skin without affecting the skin’s surface. Dr. Horvath offers Ultherapy technology in Philadelphia at Horvath Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center.
Individuals considering Ultherapy are encouraged to meet with Dr. Horvath for an informational consultation to discuss the procedure. He will examine the face and neck — specifically, the tone and laxity of the skin — and determine whether Ultherapy is a suitable solution, or if another alternative may be a better option.
Suitable Ultherapy candidates are generally in their 30s or 40s and have mild to moderate skin laxity issues and signs of aging, but do not yet require a full surgical facelift. Ultherapy has been shown to successfully work on all skin types and tones, and can improve the appearance of the following:
- A low brow line
- Loose or sagging skin on the neck (“turkey neck”)
- Double chin
What Happens During the Procedure?
During an Ultherapy procedure, Dr. Horvath delivers tiny deposits of focused ultrasonic energy (sound waves) to the deep support layers of the face and neck that are normally treated during facelift. The Ultherapy system uses ultrasound imaging, which projects an image onto a monitor in the treatment room that shows Dr. Horvath specifically where the skin is being heated. This helps him to be more precise with the laser. The body responds to the laser’s energy by producing new collagen and rebuilding new skin cells, which gradually tightens and lifts the skin and minimizes the appearance of wrinkles.
Ultherapy treatment typically takes about 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the size of the treated area and Dr. Horvath’s treatment plan. It should not be painful, but you might feel a slight sensation as the energy is deposited below the surface of the skin. Dr. Horvath may recommend taking an over-the-counter or prescription medication prior to treatment to make the experience more comfortable.
Most patients see great results with just one session, while some can benefit from multiple treatments. Dr. Horvath will recommend the appropriate number of treatment sessions during your consultation.
Ultherapy may be used in conjunction with another facial rejuvenation procedure or dermal filler treatment.
Recovery and Results
Because it is a non-invasive procedure without incisions or injections, there is minimal downtime with Ultherapy and no special aftercare instructions. You can return to work, exercise and your everyday activities almost immediately. Your face may look temporarily flushed, and some patients do have slight swelling, tingling or tenderness.
You should start to notice results about two to three months after your treatment, as new collagen replaces the old collagen matrix. Results will continue to improve for up to six months and should last up to three years.
