Tummy Tuck Philadelphia & Montgomery County

Many adults, both men and women, are concerned with stubborn fat deposits around the abdomen. These deposits are difficult to eliminate, even with an aggressive exercise program, and those who do succeed are typically left with residual skin and tissue that cannot be resolved short of surgery. Abdominoplasty is the removal of excess skin and fat around the mid-section. With this popular procedure, Dr. David Horvath can remove fat deposits and excess skin to give your stomach a shapelier, more sculpted appearance.

The Abdominoplasty Procedure

The standard approach to abdominoplasty has changed in recent years. With the addition of SAFE liposuction, the abdominal skin apron can be thinned, which leads to less tension placed on the scars. The central abdominal groove is recreated when possible, all leading to a youthful and fit abdominal appearance instead of just a flat abdominal wall as in previous techniques. Abdominoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure, though some patients choose to spend a night in the hospital. Tummy tuck is performed under general anesthesia. Liposuction may or may not be used to begin the procedure. There are several liposuction techniques available, including 360-degree liposuction and SAFELipo. 360-degree liposuction eliminates fat along the entire midsection (abdomen, waist and hips) to create a slimmer waistline and a more attractive overall figure. SAFELipo is a liposuction technique that involves breaking up the fat and using precise, gentle suction to remove it. The remaining fat and tissue is carefully smoothed out to create smoother and more beautiful body contours. Then Dr. Horvath makes an incision from hip to hip and separates the skin from the stomach muscles to create a skin flap. Next, he tightens the muscles, narrowing the waistline and flattening the midsection. Once finished with the procedure, Dr. Horvath stretches the skin into place before closing the incision to complete the tummy tuck. Dr. Horvath works diligently to keep the incision low within the patient desired garments and to lift and tighten the pubic mound, which is an area often overlooked by some surgeons.

Abdominoplasty usually takes just a few hours to complete. Most patients experience some swelling and bruising for several days after the procedure. Any discomfort can be controlled with medication prescribed by Dr. Horvath. Dr. Horvath’s anesthesia team can also provide special anesthesia nerve blocks to minimize the pain after surgery. Swelling fades significantly within a week, at which time abdominoplasty patients are able to begin light exercise, which is an important part of the recovery process. Most of our Philadelphia patients are able to return to work and their normal routine two weeks after a tummy tuck.

Tummy Tuck Results

Once healing is complete, Philadelphia tummy tuck patients can expect a flatter, more toned abdomen and a slimmer waist. Dr. Horvath works with each patient to tailor the procedure to their body and needs, locating incisions in places where they will be well concealed by clothing.

Abdominoplasty is particularly popular among women after pregnancy as well as patients who have lost significant amounts of weight. The procedure leaves the entire body looking slimmer and patients typically feel more comfortable and confident. Many of our patients choose to combine abdominoplasty with other plastic surgery procedures for the body, including arm lift and posterior lift, as well as breast lift to rejuvenate the bust line, for the best possible results.
