Breast Lift in Philadelphia & Montgomery County
Over time, the breasts lose their youthful shape and firmness, and the skin loses its elastic quality. In addition, factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, genetics and significant weight fluctuation can contribute to the decline of the breast shape and position. Breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a procedure that elevates the breasts higher on the chest for a more youthful and perky result. Dr. David Horvath is a well-known breast lift surgeon Philadelphia women trust for beautiful and natural-looking results.
Am I a Breast Lift Candidate?
You may be a suitable candidate for breast lift if you:
- Are in good physical health
- Maintain a stable weight
- Do not smoke
- Are psychologically stable
- Desire improvement in your breast shape
- Understand what the procedure entails including the risks and benefits
If you are considering breast lift surgery, Dr. Horvath will meet with you for an informational consultation. He will discuss the procedure with you and answer any questions you may have. He will also perform a physical examination of your breasts, noting your breast size, shape, skin elasticity and other characteristics. If he determines that you are an appropriate candidate, and you decide to move forward with scheduling your procedure, you will receive detailed pre-operative instructions and other information to help you prepare.
The Breast Lift Procedure
Breast lift is an outpatient procedure performed with anesthesia for your complete comfort.
Dr. Horvath will begin by making an incision along the areola (dark skin surrounding the nipple); this incision may extend vertically down to the breast crease or even horizontally along the breast crease. The extent of the incision is determined by the degree of breast droop he will be correcting.
Through the incision, Dr. Horvath will lift and reshape the breast tissue so it forms a mound higher on the chest. He will reposition the nipple and areola higher on the breast and, if necessary, reduce the size of the areolas. Dr. Horvath will remove excess breast skin, and tighten the remaining skin by closing the incisions. Finally, he will dress the area and place a support garment.
Recovery and Results
The breasts will initially be sore and swollen, but these symptoms will gradually resolve. It’s crucial to refrain from any strenuous activity, bending or lifting as the breasts heal. Moving too quickly or too vigorously after surgery could cause complications.
Dr. Horvath will follow up with you after surgery to check your healing progress and recommend when to return to work, exercise and your everyday lifestyle. Most breast lift patients are back to work within one to two weeks.
Your breasts will sit higher on your chest and appear perkier. As a result, your silhouette will look younger — like you did 10 years ago! You will feel better about wearing a bathing suit or low-cut blouse/dress. The incision scar lines heal quite well and will fade over time.
Keep in mind that breast lift will not change the size of the breasts or provide fullness in the upper part of the breasts. If you’d like fuller breasts that look rounder or shapelier, you may want to consider having breast implants placed in conjunction with your breast lift procedure. Dr. Horvath can explore this option with you in more detail during the consultative phase.
